Metric spiral flute taps are commonly used to cut internal threads in a blind hole. They are designed with flutes that wrap their axis in a spiral configuration to eject swarf away from the cutting edges during tapping. Furthermore, this spiral configuration avoids shavings from packing the hole and helps prolong tool life. Spiral flute taps are available in varying metric standard sizes, thread forms, and helix angles.
