Security chains are lengths of interconnected links used to secure large and irregular shaped valuable objects that cannot be secured by regular padlocks. They are generally made from hardened steel with a square link design for durability and cut resistance. These security chains may be used as chain locks to secure bicycles and motorcycles, as well as larger vehicles like trailers and boats. In the absence of a latch or hasp, doors and gates can be secured by wrapping the chain through the frames of swinging panels. Security chains are available in different sizes to meet various security requirements.
