• HSS-Co5 (Cobalt) Titanium Aluminium Nitride (TiAlN) High Performance Spiral Flute Machine Tap.
• Spiral Flute taps are designed primarily for machine tapping of blind holes.
• They are used to the best advantage in materials that produce long continuous chips.
• The right hand spiral forces the swarf out of the hole and prevents the chips from clogging at the bottom of the hole or in the flutes, which could cause tap breakage or spoiled threads.
• Titanium Aluminium Nitride (TiAlN) is a thin film coating that was developed from Titanium Nitride.
• TiAlN offers higher temperature resistance than TiN, as well as slightly higher hardness and especially higher hot hardness (i.e. the hardness at high temperatures).
• It is primarily used in high-temperature environments above the limits of TiN usage. This coating works by forming a thin surface layer of Alumina (Al2 O3 ), or Aluminium Oxide ceramic. As the layer wears it continuously reforms.
• 50% Machining Speed Increase is achievable.
• Metric Coarse angle of thread is 60 degrees.
• The crest is flat and the thread has clearance at the root allowing external thread and internal thread to engage well.
• A larger root radius and lower thread height enable easy screw thread processing and increase thread screw strength.
