Roller chain, also known as power transmission chain or bush roller chain, is used to transmit mechanical power from a driver to a driven unit. Common applications of roller chains include conveyors, machine tools, car engines and bicycles among others. Roller chain offers a robust, reliable, synchronous method of transmitting power. Roller chains are interchangeable and are commonly available in British Standard and American Standard, although other standards are available. Roller chain is sold in various strand widths, including Simplex, Duplex or Triplex strands. Most roller chain is steel but stainless steel is used in some applications.
