There are two kinds of Automotive Belts: Drive Belts and Timing Belts. Drive Belts, or Serpentine Belts, are used to drive multiple auxiliary parts of an engine such as the alternator, water pump, air-conditioning compressor, cooling fan, etc. The Timing Belt, on the other hand, synchronizes the crankshaft and camshaft for proper compression and combustion cycles. Automotive belts come in a very wide range of widths and lengths.
