Automotive V belts, also often simply referred to as v-belts or vee-belts, and occasionally, even as fan belts, are used to mechanically link two or more shafts to transmit force. They have a trapezoidal cross-section that wedges into the mating grooves of a pulley to provide great traction and avoid slippage. They are commonly made from rubber with reinforcing strands for improved durability and strength. Automotive micro V belts are available in a number of belt widths and lengths.
