ABOUT THIS CATEGORY

Bearings are mechanical elements that generally consist of rolling elements in between an outer and inner ring, called races, that minimize friction between moving parts and promote smooth movement. Ball bearings have spherical rolling elements and are commonly used in pulleys to support radial and axial loads. Also known as rolling-element bearings, roller bearings have cylindrical rolling elements between two races that have a higher radial load capacity. Ring bearings, also called as slewing bearing or slew ring, is used in slow turning applications with heavy loads such as cranes. Thrust bearings are deigned to carry high axial load while in rotary motion.
