Centre Drill Bits, also known as Slocombe drill bits and self-centering drill bits, are used in metalworking to create a starting hole for a larger-sized drill bit. This prohibits the larger drill bit from making peripheral movements on the workpiece once hole-forming begins. Moreso, Slocombe drill bits are also used to make conical indentations in a workpiece wherein a lathe center will be mounted. Center drill bits are available in different sizes and sets.
