Durasquirt washers are flat ring-like devices that provide a visible notification when structural bolts are tightened to the desired compression. These load indicating washers (LIW) have ridges that house orange-colored silicone. When tightened to the required compression, these ridges collapse to force the silicone out of the washer. This mechanism informs installers that the bolts are tightened properly without the need for gauges. Durasquirt direct tension indicators (DTI) are available in different diameter sizes and thicknesses for various structural fastening requirements.
