Welding goggles are personal protective equipment designed to protect the eyes from heat, sparks, debris, UV rays, and IR radiation coming from the welding process. These welding goggles also referred to as welding glasses, have dark optical lenses that allow welders to directly look at the extremely bright arc and glowing molten metal. As per OSHA, these welding goggles are rated at different shade numbers that correspond to the protection the lens provides. The shade ranges from two to fourteen, wherein the lens gets darker as the shade number gets higher.
