Gage blocks or gauge blocks are pieces of metal with surfaces grounded precisely flat. They are commonly used as the primary standard of measurements and are used to calibrate other measuring instruments such as calipers and gauge indicators. Moreso, gage blocks are also used as a go/no go gauge as well as to precisely measure height by stacking gage blocks on top of each other. Gage blocks are commonly used in machine shops, factories, and laboratories.
