Ratcheting Spanners or ratchet spanners are wrenches equipped with a ratcheting mechanism, allowing free rotation in one direction but not the other. The direction of the ratchet can be changed by turning a lever. This property of ratcheting spanners makes them suitable to use in places where a full arc rotation of the wrench is limited. Ratchet spanners may have two ratcheting heads, or in combination with a non-ratcheting head. Furthermore, some ratchet spanners are available in flex heads for wider angle movement.
