Tungsten carbide glass and tile drill bits are commonly used to make holes in glass, tiles, and ceramics. They have a spear shaped tip made of hard tungsten carbide metal that can withstand friction brought about by drilling. Additionally, they are commonly drilled at low speeds with a succession of bigger bit sizes to prevent unintentional cracking of the material.
