Hooks are pieces of material that have a curved profile used to grab and connect itself to another object. Spring hooks, also referred to as snap hooks, snap links, and carabiners, consist of a small eye or clevis designed to stay connected to a chain or rope, and a larger eye with a spring-loaded gate which open to connect to the other end of a rope or chain. S-hooks, on the other hand, are lengths of bent steel resembling the letter S typically used for hanging tools and other objects.
