Thread turning tool holders are designed to seat cutting edges to cut screw threads on a workpiece. Threads are usually done on the external surface of a workpiece but can also be done internally or inside a bore. Additionally, they are non-rotary holders that are moved towards a spinning stock in lathes or CNC. Unlike traditional toolings, these thread turning holders do not need to be ground when dull since replacement inserts can easily be replaced. Thread turning tool holders are made from different kinds of steel and are available in various shank types such as square, cylindrical, and GL-Connection.
