Small O. D. washers are flat, disk-shaped devices with central holes with an outside diameter typically 7-12% smaller than like-sized regular washers. These washers are generally placed under the bearing surface of a fastener for even stress distribution. Their small outside diameter makes them ideal to be used in applications where there is limited clearance area on the bearing surface. Small O.D. washers are commonly made of stainless steel and are available in different sizes to meet various fastening requirements.
