Hex head screws, also referred to as coach screws, lag bolts, or lag screws, are heavy duty fasteners consisting of a hexagonal head and a threaded shaft. A pilot hole is required before installing lag screws by an appropriate wrench. They are commonly used in heavy duty applications such as construction projects dealing with masonry, metal, and heavy timber connections. Hex head screws are available in various diameter sizes and lengths.
