Wing nuts, also referred to as wingnuts or butterfly nuts, are threaded fasteners with two wings protruding 180 degrees apart. The wings are designed to enable manual turning using fingers. Wingnuts are used in low torque applications that require frequent tightening and disassembly such as drum hardware and bicycles to name a few. Wingnuts are usually made from stainless steel and are available in various diameter sizes.
