An annular cutter (also called a core cutter) cuts only a ring around the edge of the hole and ejects the centre slug, so it needs less machine power than a twist drill of the same diameter. Choosing an annular cutter
Start with the hole diameter, which you select as a variant on each cutter, then the cutting depth. The depth needs to be at least the thickness of the material, and Sutton states 25, 50 or 75 mm cutting depth in the title. For the other brands, check the product page for depth before you order. Check the shank too: the Sutton cutters above have a 3/4 inch shank and the Euroboor cutters are Weldon shank, so make sure it suits your magnetic drill or drill press.
HSS cutters suit general work in mild steel. TCT cutters typically suit harder materials and heavier production work, so check the maker's data for the material and speed you plan to use. Every annular cutter needs a pilot pin to locate the cut and eject the slug. Buy the pin that suits your cutter and replace a bent pin, because it causes off-centre holes.
Always check the data sheet. Confirm diameter, cutting depth, shank and pilot pin fit against your drill before you order.
