The Sutton M603S15 is a 5 piece screw extractor set: the #1 to #5 screw extractors, for broken screws and bolts from M4-M20 (5/32 to 3/4 in).
Designed to remove broken studs, bolts, socket screws and fittings. Made from chrome steel. The aggressive left hand spiral is designed for extra gripping power, and the spiral flutes are designed to embed themselves deeper, so the extractor's grip increases as the fastener resists. Using the screw extractor
- Drill a centred hole in the broken fastener with the drill size shown in the size table for the extractor you are using. Keep the drill square to the surface.
- Insert the extractor into the hole, fit a tap wrench or similar holder on the square end and turn it anticlockwise with steady pressure. The left hand spiral is designed to bite as the fastener resists.
- Do not force the extractor. One that breaks off in the hole is much harder to remove than the original fastener, so use a penetrating oil on seized fasteners and work steadily.
- Choose the extractor by the size of the broken screw or bolt, using the metric or imperial range in the size table.
