Sutton D514 4 Flute Auger Bit Set - 5 Piece - 16, 19, 22, 25 and 32 mm

The Sutton D514 5 piece auger bit set has 5 four flute auger bits in tungsten chrome alloy (TCA) with hex shanks: 16, 19, 22, 25 and 32 mm, each 165 mm overall length. The bits are designed for machine and hand drilling into hard and soft wood.

The four cutting edges are designed to cut up to 5 times faster than standard spade bits. The coarse screw point draws the bit into the work piece, providing fast drilling in hard and soft woods, and the hex shanks give a positive grip that prevents slippage in the chuck. Applications for the range include DIY, trade, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, woodworking and roofing.

Using the auger bits

• Match the shank (1/4 in hex or 7/16 in hex, see the size table) to the chuck or driver you are using.
• Start at a low speed so the screw point can engage and draw the bit into the timber, then keep a steady pressure and let the bit feed itself.
• In deep holes, withdraw the bit from time to time to clear the chips from the flutes.
• Back the timber with a scrap piece, or ease off as the bit breaks through, to reduce break-out on the exit side.
