Lab coats also referred to as white coats and laboratory coats, are protective garments covering the torso down to the knees and have front vertical openings for easy donning. Resembling a knee-length shirt, these white coats shield the wearer from direct contact with hazardous substances in the laboratory. Similarly, wearing laboratory coats avoid cross-contamination of samples and clean rooms. Lab coats are used by medical, quality control, and electronics personnel for sample testing, research and development, and other lab works.
