The Head Protection Range

Our range is built around the head protection types most commonly required on Australian construction, industrial and maintenance sites.

• Frontier Hard Hats: Frontier vented and non-vented hard hats are AS/NZS 1801-rated for general industrial and construction use. The Tuffgard Vented Hard Hat features a ratchet harness for tool-free size adjustment and an integrated rain gutter; the Clearview model offers improved front-brim visibility. Vented models are accessory-ready for clip-on face shields and earmuffs — see our dedicated face protection range for compatible visors and shields. Non-vented models are required in environments with electrical hazard exposure, as vented shells eliminate electrical insulation. Replacement chin straps are available in packs of 10. Available in white, yellow, orange, blue, green and other hi-vis and role-coded colours.
• Brady Warden Hard Hats: Brady Chief Warden, Fire Warden and First Aid hard hats provide colour-coded head protection for designated emergency response roles on site. Each hat is pre-printed with the warden’s role for instant identification during evacuations and emergencies — supporting compliance with AS 3745 Emergency Planning for Facilities. Suitable for construction sites, commercial buildings and industrial facilities with formal emergency management structures.
• Mack Workwear Caps: Mack flat brim trucker caps, curved brim baseball caps and foam trucker caps provide casual head protection for site supervisors, tradespeople and outdoor workers where a certified safety helmet is not mandated by the SWMS. These are workwear caps — not AS/NZS 1801-rated hard hats — and are not a substitute for a certified safety helmet in impact or electrical hazard zones. Choosing the Right Hard Hat for Your Site

Selecting the correct head protection comes down to the hazards present, the environment and the compliance requirements for your site.

• AS/NZS 1801 Compliance: On construction sites and in industrial environments, safety helmets must comply with AS/NZS 1801:1997 (Industrial Safety Helmets). Verify the standard marking stamped inside the shell before purchasing. Workwear caps — including Mack baseball and trucker styles — do not meet this standard and must not be substituted in designated hard hat zones.
• Vented vs Non-Vented: Vented hard hats improve airflow and reduce heat stress in hot outdoor environments but must not be used where there is a risk of electric shock — the ventilation slots eliminate the helmet’s electrical insulation. Non-vented helmets are required wherever workers are exposed to live electrical conductors or equipment. Always consult your SWMS and applicable electrical safety regulations before selecting.
