Choosing antislip tape
Start with where it goes and who walks on it. Black tape is the general choice for workshop and industrial stairs, yellow and hazard stripe add a visual warning on edges and step nosings, and clear lets the floor show through. Glow and luminous options help people see steps in low light. Choose the width to suit the tread or edge: narrow rolls for edge marking and wider rolls for covering a walking surface. Treads are for stairs where you want a ready-cut piece.
Tape sticks best to a clean, dry, sound surface, free of dust, wax, oil and loose paint. In wet or outdoor areas press the edges down firmly, and replace tape that is worn, lifting or damaged. Antislip tape is one control among several, so it works best alongside good housekeeping, drainage and a risk assessment of the area.
Always check the data sheet. Confirm the surface it suits, the grip rating and the conditions it is made for, and check your site requirements if you need a specific slip-resistance classification.

Antislip tape FAQs
What colour antislip tape should I use?
Black is the general choice for industrial and workshop stairs. Yellow and hazard stripe add a visual warning on edges and step nosings, and clear lets the floor show through. We also list glow and luminous options for low light.
What width do I need?
Choose by the tread or edge. Narrow rolls of 25 to 50 mm suit edge marking, and wider rolls of 100 to 200 mm suit covering more of the walking surface. Brady Safeline goes up to 200 mm.
How do I get the tape to stick?
Apply it to a clean, dry surface free of dust, wax, oil and loose paint, and press it down firmly, especially the edges. Replace it when it wears or lifts.
Do you have antislip treads?
Yes. We list a Brady hazard stripe anti-slip tread in 150 x 610 mm, yellow and black, 24 per pack.
Do you have a glow-in-the-dark antislip tape?
Yes. We list the Brady Glow tape (B-916) and an Advance Anti-Slip tape with a luminous strip. Check the data sheet for how it performs in your lighting conditions.
