Macsafe MAC-ADJ Adjustable Prop Lock for Acrow and Formwork Props

The Macsafe Proplock Adjustable (MAC-ADJ) is a lock-out device for adjustable construction props that adjusts to suit different prop diameters, up to a maximum internal diameter of 65 mm (manufacturer-stated). Macsafe lists it for Acrow and Gorilla-type props, telescopic steel multi props, adjustable jack props and formwork props.

A stainless steel screw thread sets the lock to the prop diameter and a cam lock handle tightens it into position. Once locked, a personal safety lock, or a hasp for several locks, goes through the clamp to prevent unauthorised use of the prop. It is made from impact-resistant nylon and stainless steel, fits or removes in under 10 seconds, and can be fitted to a prop that is already erected without dismantling it (manufacturer-stated). It is reusable and designed not to shrink or swell in harsh weather. Macsafe describes it as a device that locks out the prop's adjustment and does not publish a load rating for the lock. Fitting and lock-out

Set the prop to the required height on a clean, flat, stable surface, then fit the lock over the prop so that the adjusting handle is captured (manufacturer-stated). Put a personal safety lock, or a hasp for several locks, through the clamp, and before removing any lock confirm that it is safe to do so under your site lock-out tag-out procedure. Padlocks are not included (manufacturer-stated).

Selecting the right option

Choose the MAC-ADJ when your props vary in diameter or come from different makers, up to 65 mm internal diameter. If all your props are the common 60 to 63 mm Acrow or Gorilla-type, the Macsafe MAC-STD Standard Prop Lock is smaller and lighter at 220 g against 420 g (manufacturer-stated). The lock does not include a padlock, and Macsafe does not publish a load rating, so follow your site lock-out tag-out procedure.
