What is Loctite Super Glue Power Flex Gel Control designed for?
A rubber-toughened, gel-form super glue for strong, flexible bonds on rubber, leather, wood, metal, porcelain, paper and most plastics. It's not suitable for polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), car glass, Styropor, or synthetic fibres.
What does the gel formula give you over a standard liquid super glue?
It's thicker and more viscous than standard liquid cyanoacrylate, so it stays where you put it rather than running — useful on vertical or hard-to-reach surfaces, and easier to control the amount applied.
How strong is the bond, and how long does it take to reach full strength?
Initial adhesion sets in 10 to 30 seconds. Full bond strength — 15 to 25 N/mm² tensile shear strength to ISO 4587 — develops over 12 to 24 hours depending on the material.
How do I apply it correctly?
Make sure both surfaces are clean, dry and close-fitting. Apply a small drop to one surface, bring the parts together immediately and hold for at least 30 seconds. Leave undisturbed for 10 minutes, or ideally overnight, before putting the joint under load. Best results come at 15°C to 30°C and at least 30% relative humidity.
Will the bond hold up outdoors or in wet conditions?
The cured bond is weather and shock resistant for general outdoor use, but it's not intended for permanently wet areas or containers holding hot liquids, and it isn't rated for PTFE, vinyl, silicone rubber, foam, or glazed surfaces.
