Loctite 542 Medium Strength Thread Sealant

The Loctite 542 Medium Strength Thread Sealant is a brown, one-part anaerobic sealant for locking and sealing fine-threaded metal pipes and fittings, particularly in hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Properly tightened fittings seal instantly to moderate pressures, and the cured product resists fuel, oil, coolants and hydraulic fluids. It contains no fillers that could clog filters, and carries DVGW, WRAS, KTW and SVGW approvals. Available in 10 ml and 50 ml.
With the threads clean and dry, run a full 360° bead around the leading threads of the male fitting, skip the first thread, and work it in; allow 24 hours for full pressure and solvent resistance, and take it apart with hand tools (or local heat to about 250°C on long engagements or diameters over 25 mm). It is not normally recommended for plastics, particularly thermoplastics, or for oxygen-rich systems. Consult the Safety Data Sheet before use.
