AAP Pipe Fittings, Storz Couplings, Ball Valves & Industrial Fittings
AAP is one of Australia’s most popular brands of industrial pipe fittings, covering the full scope of threaded, flanged, weld-end, and quick-connect fitting requirements across mining, construction, manufacturing, water treatment, fire protection, and general industrial pipework.
Founded to supply the Australian industrial sector with a comprehensive fitting range, AAP produces fittings in black steel, stainless steel (316/316L), brass, and cast iron to suit the widest possible array of process piping, compressed air, gas, water, and hydraulic applications.
AIMS Industrial sells a broad selection of AAP fittings available to order online with fast Australia-wide delivery — giving maintenance teams, plumbing contractors, fabricators, and plant engineers direct access to the sizes and configurations they need without waiting on special orders or extended lead times.
The AAP range at AIMS covers BSP and NPT threaded fittings including sockets, bushes, reducers, and hose joiners in black steel and brass; Storz quick-release couplings and adaptors for fire hose, irrigation, and mining dewatering applications; buttweld elbows, reducers, and flanges in standard and extra-strong wall ratings for welded pipeline construction; ball valves for gas, water, and general service in brass and stainless; and ancillary items including Y strainers, check valves, and coupling lubrication.
For maintenance teams managing large industrial plants, having a reliable source of correctly rated fittings in stock is a fundamental operational requirement. An incorrectly specified fitting — wrong pressure rating, wrong material for the service fluid, wrong thread standard — creates both a safety risk and costly downtime.
AAP’s breadth of range means most common pipeline fitting requirements can be sourced from a single supplier with known quality standards and dimensional consistency.
BSP (British Standard Pipe) fittings remain the dominant thread form in Australian industrial pipework, with NPT (National Pipe Taper) commonly encountered on American-manufactured equipment and some mining machinery.
Storz couplings are the Australian fire service and mining dewatering standard, providing fast, secure, tool-free connection of hose assemblies.
Buttweld fittings are specified for high-pressure, high-temperature, and corrosive service lines where threaded joints introduce unacceptable risk.

AAP Threaded Fittings — BSP, NPT, Storz & Flanges
AAP’s threaded and flanged fitting range covers the most common connection types in Australian industrial pipework — from standard BSP sockets and bushes through to Storz quick-release couplings and stainless flanges. Order online at AIMS Industrial for fast site delivery.
- AAP Socket (HT) Black Steel: A heavy-thread black steel socket for joining two male-threaded pipe ends in BSP pipework systems. Black steel sockets are the standard fitting for compressed air, gas service, fire protection, and general water lines where a cost-effective, high-strength threaded joint is required. The HT designation indicates a heavy-thread pattern providing greater thread engagement and pull-out resistance under pressure cycling. Available in multiple diameter steps to suit standard pipe sizes from ¼" to 4" BSP.
- AAP Hexagon Head Bush NPT Black: A reducing bush with NPT threads for stepping down pipe size within an NPT threaded fitting or valve. The hexagon head profile provides a wrench flat for tightening to the correct torque without damage to the thread form. NPT bushes are essential on American-manufactured plant and equipment with NPT-threaded valve and instrument connection points that must be adapted to metric or BSP service lines during maintenance, repair, or upgrade.
- AAP Storz BSP Female Adaptor: A Storz-to-BSP female adaptor for connecting a Storz quick-release hose coupling to a BSP-threaded pipe or valve outlet. Storz couplings are the standard for fire hose, mine site dewatering, and irrigation quick-connect applications in Australia. This adaptor allows Storz hose assemblies to be connected directly to BSP-threaded pipework without custom hose fittings, making it an essential item for sites that use both fixed BSP pipework and portable Storz-connected hose reels or pump outlets.
- AAP Storz Hose Tail Coupling: A Storz coupling fitted with a hose tail end for crimping or clamping directly onto hose. Used to make up Storz-terminated hose assemblies for fire fighting, dewatering, and irrigation use where a standard Storz-to-BSP adaptor is not suitable and a direct hose-end termination is required. Available in multiple hose tail diameters to suit common dewatering and fire hose bore sizes.
- AAP Storz BSP Male Adaptor: A Storz-to-BSP male adaptor for connecting Storz hose assemblies to male-threaded pipe outlets, pump discharge ports, and valve connections. Complements the female adaptor for sites that require Storz connections at both male and female threaded interfaces, ensuring rapid hose connection without thread mismatch.
- AAP BSP Flanges 316/316L SS Table-E: Stainless steel (316/316L) BSP slip-on or weld-neck flanges to Table E pressure rating for connecting stainless pipework to flanged valves, pumps, and equipment in corrosive service including chemical processing, food and beverage, marine, and coastal mining environments. 316L low-carbon stainless is specified for welded fabrication to prevent carbide precipitation and sensitisation at the weld heat-affected zone.
- AAP Brass Y Strainer: A brass Y-type inline strainer for protecting valves, meters, pumps, and process equipment from pipe scale, weld spatter, and particulate contamination in water, compressed air, and general service lines. The Y-body geometry allows the strainer screen to be cleaned or replaced without removing the strainer body from the line — critical for maintaining filtration on continuously operating plant circuits. Available in BSP thread sizes for most common pipeline applications.
- AAP Gas Brass Ball Valve Male/Female T-Handle: A gas-rated brass ball valve with male inlet and female outlet BSP threads and a T-bar operating handle for use on LPG, natural gas, and industrial gas service lines. Gas-rated valves are tested and certified for higher leak-tightness requirements than general water-service ball valves and carry the pressure ratings required for compliant gas line installations. The T-handle provides positive open/closed indication by aligning with the flow direction when open and perpendicular to the line when closed.
- AAP Wafer Check Valve — Single Disc: A wafer-pattern single-disc check valve for preventing backflow in pipeline systems without the space and cost penalty of a full-body swing check valve. The wafer design clamps between flanges with minimal face-to-face dimension, making it the preferred check valve for space-constrained installations in pump discharge manifolds, compressor outlets, and booster systems where a full-bodied check valve cannot be accommodated.
AAP Buttweld Fittings & Weld-End Pipeline Components
AAP’s buttweld fitting range covers standard and extra-strong wall elbows and reducers for welded pipeline construction in carbon steel. These fittings are specified for high-pressure and high-temperature service where threaded joints are not acceptable. Order from AIMS Industrial.
- AAP 90° Short Radius Elbow Buttweld Std: A 90-degree short-radius buttweld elbow in standard-wall carbon steel for changing pipeline direction in compact spaces where a long-radius elbow cannot be accommodated. Short-radius elbows have a centreline radius equal to the pipe nominal bore, compared to 1.5 times the bore for long-radius elbows, reducing the fitting face-to-face dimension in tight equipment layouts. Weld-end preparation is compatible with standard pipe wall and schedules for butt-welding to ASME or AS standards.
- AAP 90° Long Radius Elbow Buttweld X-Stg: A 90-degree long-radius elbow in extra-strong (XS/Schedule 80) wall carbon steel for high-pressure pipeline systems where standard-wall fittings do not provide the required pressure rating. Extra-strong fittings are specified on compressed air, steam, and high-pressure hydraulic lines, and on systems subject to erosive flow that would thin a standard-wall elbow below minimum acceptable wall thickness over its service life. The 1.5D centreline radius minimises pressure drop and turbulence at the elbow for high-flow pipeline applications.
- AAP Concentric Reducer Buttweld Std: A concentric buttweld reducer for stepping down pipe diameter within a welded pipeline while maintaining a common centreline axis between the large and small ends. Concentric reducers are used on horizontal lines where the pipe centreline must remain aligned — for example, to match valve, pump, or equipment connection centrelines at a different pipe size than the main header. Available in standard wall with weld-end preparation to suit BS or ASME schedule pipe.
