Bossweld 3% Rare Earth Tungsten Electrodes are a long-life blend for TIG welding on AC or DC, supplied in packs of 10 at 178 mm long in 1.6, 2.4 and 3.2 mm diameters. The blend gives easy arc striking, smooth arc transfer and a low burn-off rate, and suits all TIG applications.

The blend is non-radioactive (manufacturer-stated), so there is no thorium to manage in the grinding dust. It suits non-alloyed and high-alloyed steel, copper, nickel, aluminium, titanium and magnesium alloys on both AC and DC.

Selecting the right option

Pick the diameter from your welding current and joint, and check that your torch collet and collet body match it. Smaller diameters suit lower current on thinner material, and larger diameters carry more current. Grind the tip to a taper with the grinding marks running along the length of the electrode, and use a wheel kept for tungsten only so the tip stays clean.
