Choosing an industrial V-belt
Match the belt to the pulley groove and the length of the belt you are replacing. The section (for example A, SPA, 5V or XPB) and a belt number are normally printed on the belt. Classical and narrow section belts are not interchangeable, so choose the section that matches the groove. A cogged or notched belt is chosen where the pulley is small or a belt needs to flex more.
On a drive with more than one belt, replace them as a set. Link V-belts are useful where a drive is hard to take apart. Always check the data sheet. Confirm the section, length and drive details before you order.

Industrial V-belt FAQs
How do I find the right V-belt?
Read the section and belt number printed on the old belt. If it is worn, measure the pulley groove and the belt length, or call us for help.
What is the difference between classical and narrow section belts?
They run in different pulley grooves. Classical belts are sized by letter (Z, A, B, C, D, E) and narrow section belts by SP or number (SPZ, SPA, SPB, SPC, 3V, 5V, 8V). The section must match the pulley.
What is a cogged belt?
A cogged belt has notches on the inside. The Gates Tri-Power and Hi-Power cogged belts in this range are listed as notched or cogged belts.
Do you list fire resistant belts?
Yes. We list PIX FRAS fire resistant anti-static V-belts in A and B sections. Check the data sheet for the application.
Do you list link V-belts?
Yes. We list Fenner PowerTwist and NuTLink link V-belts, which are made up to length from links.
