1/2 in (15 mm) PVC Ball Valve, Screwed | VPVC15

This AAP PVC ball valve has screwed female ends. It is supplied in 8 sizes from 1/2 in (15 mm) to 4 in (100 mm).

A ball valve turns a ball with a hole through it between sealing seats. When the lever or handle is in line with the pipe the hole lines up with the flow and the valve is open, and a quarter turn closes it. AAP notes that the handle sits in line with the port, so it shows the valve position.

AAP names this range PVC ball valves, and its material list shows an ABS body and seal seat, an NBR ball stem seal, an EPDM handle, and PVC, CPVC or ABS for the O-ring and cap. AAP lists a 120 degrees C maximum working temperature and a cold working pressure of 800 kPa (8 bar), and gives the thread as AS 1722.1 (all manufacturer-stated). It suits agriculture, turf and home watering systems, per the manufacturer. Plastic valves lose pressure rating as temperature rises, so confirm the rating at your operating temperature with AIMS before using it on anything warm.

Selecting the right option

Choose the size to match your pipe thread. AAP lists a socket version for glued pipe, and a double union version where the valve needs to come out of the line. Confirm the rating if the line will run warm.
